GamePros Hearthstone Championship Series 2019 | Offline Qualifier 1

The first event of the GamePros Hearthstone Championship Series

On Saturday, January 12, it was time again for a new GamePros Hearthstone event! This was the first of the (well-known) GamePros Hearthstone events in the new format: the Championship Series. In this new format participants earn points depending on their final score during each event. These points will count for the GamePros Championship Series ranking for that particular year and the best 8 players will be invited to compete in the Grand Finals for grand prizes. The stakes were high shall we say.

Tournament progress

From 10:00 in the morning our team diligently set up thing to make sure the tournament could start at 12:00. Between 11:00 and 11:30 contestants arrived to prepare for the tournament ahead. Players added their decks to Battlefy and there were some quick practice matches. Around 12:00 our regular admin Pascal gave the starting signal for the first Championship Series Fireside Gathering.

Participants went all in from the start. During the tournament there was a varied ‘meta’, there were dozens of different strategies used by the players. This made sure that the matches were exciting and our casters were pleasantly surprised by some of the combos. Good to see that our livestream of the GamePros Hearthstone Fireside Gatherings keeps getting more popular, so we gave ourselves a little pat on the back. As the time went by it slowly became clear which players would make it to the finals. Below a full overview of the tournament.
