GamePros was founded 1 year ago!
Unbelievable but true. GamePros is already 1 year old and this year flew by. That’s why it’s good to reflect on our achievements but also to shine a light our future goals of GamePros.
Maybe a little history first, how GamePros started and what our goal are. GamePros was created by a collaboration between 8 eager individuals who all get satisfaction out of organising gaming events. There were a lot of meetings where we decided our vision, mission and goals. With these in mind we organised our first event: the GamePros Hearthstone Fireside Gathering in the Brikke Oave in Brunssum.
For (almost) everything is a first time
Because this was our first event, we as organisation didn’t have a clear image of the expected turnout or how the event would be received by the participants. The event itself would consist of a competitive tournament of the virtual card game “Hearthstone”.
Blizzard Games, the publisher and producer of Hearthstone, stimulates next to online also offline gameplay so this was the perfect match for our first event. Looking back everything turn out alright, seeing the number of contestants en the positive feedback we got.

Hearthstone Fireside Gathering it is
You can assume that this only encouraged us further. After an extensive evaluation we set up some points to improve and of course we had to host a second edition of the Fireside Gathering. And a third. And fourth. And a… You get the idea, we frequently organise Hearthstone Fireside Gatherings. These events mostly take place at the Brikke Oave in Brunssum, but we also hosted a GamePros Hearthstone Fireside Gathering during the TiMeS LAN 2018.
FIFA Tournament with Fortuna Sittard
Next to the Hearthstone events last year we did a nice project. Early 2018 we were approached by football club Fortuna Sittard, asking us to organise a FIFA18 tournament. After a couple of meetings we offered to organise a FIFA18 tournament for 100 contestants. Fortuna Sittard agreed and April 2018 the FIFA18 tournament took place in them Stadium’s business lounge. A great event where next to the 100 participants a lot of visitors showed up.
On no less than twelve PlayStation4 consoles contestants battled simultaneously, first in a pool-phase to eventually go through a knock-out system to get to one winner. Every participant got a goodie bag filled by our sponsors, but for the best 8 players there were special prizes to win. These went from a season pass to a custom Bicycle.
Conclusion
Looking back, we as GamePros are very proud about everything we achieved so far. We will definitely continue to organise gaming events. Nevertheless we are always searching for new ways to improve, professionalize but mostly make our events more fun. This is a promise we make to our self but also to our sponsors, partners and of course our community.
